Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the wall.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
